It was brought to our attention today that a photograph of a teacher and words written on a chalkboard was circulating on social media and among parents and students. We would like to address this situation and provide some additional information.
We want you to know that the words on the chalkboard were taken out of context and actually stemmed from two different lessons in two different classes. The first word “republican’s” was written on the board during a lesson on the use of possessives. The remaining words were written on the board during a lesson about word choice. While it is unfortunate that these words ended up on the board together, there was never any discussion during class about political parties and whether or not they are good or bad. I want to make it clear that as a district, we do not discuss or criticize anyone for their political beliefs.
Although there was no ill intention, we acknowledge that seeing these words together and out of context may have harmed and upset some students and families. For that, we truly apologize.
We ask that any student or parent who has a concern about this or any other issue to contact us directly, so that you have complete and accurate information. Sharing misinformation is hurtful, misleading, and tears us apart rather than bringing us together.

A 15 yr. old girl who was forced to read and discuss inappropriate content at school and for reprimanding the Wake County school board for violating HB49(Parental Rights Bill). The board breaks the law and no one cares, I protest and the cops cuff me?

Peaceful civil disobedience is required when justice is being stolen, especially from the least of these.
