The Deputy Defence Spokesperson, Lt Col Simon Kabera, today joined more than 1200 students and teachers of Nu-Vision High School in honouring the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Today, the State Minister for Sports, Hon Rwego Ngarambe, other Government officials, the Mayor of Kigali City, the Chief J9, and RDF female personnel joined other participants in Car-Free Day activities, which placed special emphasis on sports and wellness programs dedicated to pregnant women.

The initiative aimed to promote maternal health, physical fitness, and awareness of the importance of safe physical activities during pregnancy.
During the event, leaders emphasised the importance of providing continuous care, support, and attention to pregnant mothers, regarded as “Abatwitiye u Rwanda” for their vital role in the nation’s future development.
They highlighted that regular and guided physical exercise plays a key role in improving maternal health, reducing stress, enhancing physical well-being, and preparing women for safer motherhood.

RDF and RNP, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Fred Hollows Foundation Rwanda (FHF), launched a provincial eye care and cataract surgery campaign at Kinihira Provincial Hospital in Rulindo District, under the ongoing Defence and Security Citizen Outreach Programme (DSCOP 2026).

Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) at M’poko Camp in Bangui joined members of the Rwandan Diaspora for friendly basketball 🏀 and volleyball 🏐 matches, fostering unity and strengthening camaraderie among Rwandans abroad.

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including H.E. Olivier Kayumba, Rwanda’s Ambassador to the Central African Republic; Brigadier General Franco Rutagengwa, Joint Task Force Bangui (JTFB) Commander, the President of the Rwandan Diaspora, Uwera Mignone and Contingents' Commanders.

Both matches ended with the victory of Rwandan Diaspora over the Rwandan Peacekeepers ( 39- 38) in Basketball and (3 - 1) in Volleyball.

The Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Gen MK Mubarakh, today hosted a delegation of 27 faculty and student officers from the Zambia Defence Services Command and Staff College at RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura. The delegation, led by Col Elias Zulu, is in Rwanda for a study tour from 28 September to 4 October 2025. The visit aims to get insight of Rwanda’s transformation journey and its critical role in promoting peace and security in the region and beyond.

The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has, for the thirteenth time, held a send-off ceremony to honor and bid farewell to its service members, who have reached retirement age and those whose service contracts have come to an end, in recognition of the dedicated service rendered. The official ceremony took place at RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura, for RDF Generals and Senior Officers, while that for Junior Officers and Other Ranks was held at each RDF Division’s headquarters across the country and the General Headquarters, Kanombe, for RDF Units around Kigali city.

The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Defence, Honourable Juvenal Marizamunda, on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the RDF. The Rwanda Defence Force Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen MK Mubarakh, accompanied by CP G Rumanzi representing Inspector General of Police (IGP) attended the 34th Policy Organs Meeting of Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) held in Mogadishu, Somalia from 17 to 19 July 2025.

The meeting brought together Chiefs of Defence Staff and Security representatives from EASF Member States. The meeting deliberatated on key Policy and Strategic issues aimed at enhancing Peace and Security in the Region.

Nine member states out of ten were represented including Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda. Seychelles is absent.
