Conservatives make this point that they spent more than $800 per month on groceries.
In comparison, After rent is paid disabled people nationwide are lucky if we have a hundred dollars left – and then there are utilities, medication, etc.
$800/month for groceries is a dream.
Can't help but feel worthless, the agoraphobia and bulimia brought on by steady and constant trauma makes my anxiety unstoppable. I'm surrounded by garbage in a sweat stained bed, my room is already getting hot and I'm dreading any future. My advocacy is one of the few things giving me purpose, trying to stop the cycle so people don't live like I did, on the streets selling my body as a teenager, no family, no stability, no treatments. In and out of shelters, sleeping under the dvp bridges, and weeks in mental hospitals when it all got to be too much. But it's been too much for anyone to handle for so long. We just wanted a chance, soemwhere to recover and be safe. Instead we are vilified and chastised for being lazy moochers. Tell you what, surviving what I've been through, there's nothing lazy about it.
Canada has led globally on advancing inclusion and accessibility to MAID for disabled people forced into poverty and/or unable to access needed supports.
Living in poverty means constant stress over basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare. That pressure harms mental and physical health, limits access to support, and can increase suicide risk. Poverty creates a ripple effect that touches every part of a person’s well being.
@PattyHajdu Our government allows "record profits", wealth hoarding & corporate greed yet ignores the BASIC NEEDS of our most vulnerable citizens!

@fordnation Why is it "acceptable" to provide less than POVERTY LEVEL financial support to Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in O.N. in 2026? These are medically assessed & designated DISABLED who are unable to financially support themselves through NO FAULT of their own! #NoMorePovertyODSP
It's certainly a heartbreaking reality that so many people in our communities face poverty while resources are sent elsewhere. Billions spent on foreign aid could be redirected to strengthen social safety nets, create jobs, and fund affordable housing units right at home.
Another day of isolation in bed,
The agoraphobia and panic flow,
My limbs ache from doing nothing,
Dizziness and sickness violently grow,
From just going to the nearby bathroom.
It's not the justified fear that chills,
It's the irrational thought that burns,
Alone in the dark begging for silence,
For a holiday from the steady screaming,
Of a world lost in capitalism and greed.
My safe place is temporary once again,
The streets will get me this next time,
There's no room in my heart for family,
Just the anger and rage of surviving,
There never was a happy ending written.

ODSP is $1408 max with a $26 max increase next month.
For all costs. Rent, meds, therapy, food, transportation, everything.
That is provincial legislated destitution.
And with MAID available exclusive to us, it's a direct funnel to our deaths.
Fuck Doug Ford and Fuck Ontario.
@Daytime_Baller@ODSPoor@NiallRicardo@LeahGazan The problem is they don’t care! That’s their plan! They literally put TRACK 2 MAID in place knowing full well the CDB wasn’t what was promised. They WANT us to die
How can Canada still push AccessAbility Week so hard when Carney eliminated the federal disability ministry last year?
When multiple pieces of federal disability legislation are being called out by UN, disabled folks, doctors and disability orgs?
Disabled eugenics is active!
Disabled folks in Canada are forced into legislation destitution on both a provincial and federal level, then "offered" the "choice" of state-sanctioned euthanasia (medical assisted death, MAID) if they feel that said quality of life contains too much suffering for them to bare.
$1.2b cut from mental health & addictions. $600m cut from LTC. $500m cut from drugs for rare diseases. Health transfers cut from 5% to 3% after 2028, despite a growing, aging population. Pharmacare phased out as of 2029.
Isn't it time we spoke up?

You aren't less of a person because you have panic attacks. You aren't less of a person because you have anxiety. You aren't less of a person because you have depression. You aren't less of a person for having mental health issues. You are a gift to the world and you are worthy.
