Go get the genetic hemochromatosis test. If you're positive then you have all your answers. 608 is high but I've seen people with over 2500 ferritin which is dangerously high. Whether it's genetic or not you need to start phlebotomy soon. Just 300 ml of blood every 3 weeks and monitor hematocrit hemoglobin and rbc to make sure it doesn't drop too quickly, and drink plenty of electrolytes every day. If you're doctor doesn't allow your to do phlebotomy go donate blood.
If you take 300-500 ml of blood every 3-4 weeks you won't have any issues being functionally iron deficient at 50-80 ferritin. The trick is to get it low enough to start to pull iron from your organs. You will have virtually zero symptoms at 50-80 ferritin, as long as you're not doing the phlebotomy too quickly like every week which is not recommended.
@v7g7lant@Yautja23@thegarybrecka There is a C282Y hemochromatosis test you can do to see if you're homozygous. I'm assuming your ferritin is over 300, if so you can do phlebotomy (blood letting) to get your target level to 50 ferritin. That could help reverse any fatty liver issues.
@v7g7lant@Yautja23@thegarybrecka You're correct high ferritin can be a sign of a chronic disease/inflammation but in otherwise healthy individuals it could be hemochromatosis. Get checked by a doctor.
