@hookskat Sin is an injury against God. The wages for sin is death. You are right, in that we can not injure or diminish God, but we can sin against Him, and all have. There is no way, that we can pay the wages of our sin, since we are finite beings. Only an infinite being can atone for us
@hookskat I do appreciate the conversation, I won't be able to reply anymore for the evening.
You have a wonderful and blessed day, and thank you again for the conversation today.
@hookskat We have reason to believe there is.
People often share their experiences of it with near death experiences, I was shown my own glimpse into heaven, that is a story for another time and place.
@hookskat We're all going to die, where do you want to spend eternity?
Also, it isn't for my own selfish desires, it is ultimately for the kingdom of God, to share that with others, so they can be in relationship with God.
It is a gift, an offering, that we hope to share with others.
@hookskat The cause means we are subject to eternal damnation, a debt that we can not pay ourselves. So, we need a Savior.
Jesus is that Savior. Jesus paid the debt, that we could never pay ourselves.
@hookskat There is nothing that you can do, being a finite being, to satisfy an infinite injury against an infinite being.
We, as finite beings, can not reconcile what is done to an infinite being. That injury, needs a proper payment, that we can not pay.
@hookskat The entire point is to repent of your old self, and change your ways. Die to self, live for Christ, be born again, renewed.
Your old ways die, so that you can be a new person in Christ.
@hookskat Christianity is admitting you do things wrong, the entire premise is knowing you do things wrong. That you do not get things right. But admitting you do things wrong, still comes with a price. If you stand before a judge, and admit you are guilty of a crime, what happens?
@hookskat Everlasting life in heaven, surrounded by the love, peace, joy, and comfort of God, rather than pain, suffering, despair and the complete loss of hope that is the separation of God, which is hell.
@hookskat And share the good news, that there is someone that can wash you clean, and make you new. Because of that, we try to be more Christ like. It doesn't make us "better", not in the least.
@hookskat We know that we are imperfect, but we found a truth in someone that can wash us clean and make us perfect, and forgive us of our wrong doings, so long as we seek him and come into relationship with him.
Nothing we can do, will ever make us good, we just hope to emulate Him.
