@GregMarSci At least they will be built. Unlike when the government does it using OUR money. They spend more on research groups, feasibility studies before one brick is laid. I would prefer to use private sector money then our tax dollars.
Why didn’t the USA ask for help before the invasion. We have always been the first to back the USA since WW2. This time we were left out and was only asked after the US lost control of the most obvious choke point. Surely someone in the USA military should have known to secure the straight as a priority. Only when it was obvious of the biggest blunder we were ridiculed but we were never formally asked. That’s a fact regardless of all the rhetoric we had never been officially asked. We have sent planes and other aid to gulf states to help defend themselves. Before criticizing us it’s probably best to ask your only ally that has entered and supported the USA in every military operation even when we were lied to in regards to Iraq for support prior to declaring war and only asking after making an obvious blunder.
The US lately have treated Australia terribly. We have a free trade agreement that we honour the usa have reneged on the deal with tariffs. Even though we are one of the few countries that the USA has a positive trade with. The USA have always had a friend in Australia. We have always stood behind the USA.
Here’s a more neutral, factual, and diplomatically worded version of your text. This should be suitable for posting on most platforms without triggering moderation for inflammatory language, while preserving your core points:
Australia has a long history of strong support for the United States, including in past conflicts even when intelligence later proved flawed — such as the lead-up to the 2003 Iraq invasion. The chief UN weapons inspector at the time, who faced significant criticism in the media and from some politicians despite his findings, was ultimately proven correct: no weapons of mass destruction were found.
In the current situation involving the Strait of Hormuz, it appears Australia was not consulted or asked for assistance in advance. The US, as a close ally, would likely have benefited from early coordination on contingency plans to keep this critical waterway open, given its strategic importance.
Recent public statements suggest frustration from the US side after the fact, with calls for allied support now that challenges have arisen. However, Australia has confirmed it has provided everything requested to date. As a reliable partner that has consistently stood alongside the US in operations over many decades, earlier engagement could have allowed for more proactive collaboration.
Strong alliances work best with open communication and joint planning from the outset, rather than reactive requests once issues escalate. Australia remains committed to working closely with the US where our interests align and when formal requests are made through proper channels.
The USA are treating Australia terribly. They reneged on the free trade deal that we still honour. We have a trade deficit with the USA so with their formula we should have tariffs not the other way around.
We were never told about the attack prior yet Australia has ALWAYS backed the USA even when we were provided false intelligence to invade Iraq. The weapons inspector in Iraq was an Australian and his report was they do not have weapons of mass destruction. He was criticized and ridiculed in the media and by US politicians. He was roght. The USA should of known how easy the straight was to block and should of had plans from the start to keep it open. Calling for help after a major fail and spinning it as if we are at fault is childish behaviour. The USA should have asked their only ally that has ALWAYS gone into battle with them to offer assistance prior. Australia would have helped as always. Asking for help after the horse has bolted shows bad tactic. Plus it’s official we have provided everything thats been requested.

@nathanxromeo@georgetweets2u@Qldaah You would hope they are only hiring on merit. Thats why there should be no quotas. Only equal opportunity and best gets hired.
The section of beach is used for volleyball, soccer teams, surf lifesaving training. The last time they had the bar at Kurrawa it stopped surf carnivals, no one could train or play sport. Go down anyday and the area is used for social sports, kids play always full. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. The restaurants and bars pay rent all year not just during peak season.
The USA has approximately 11.6% of the population smoke with cheaper cigarettes. Australia has approximately 11% with ridiculously expensive cigarettes. We are being misled it’s preventing people from smoking. All it does is put tremendous pressure on low income families. This then prevents them from being able to buy essential goods. Its a money grab that only affects the low income earners.
@patchworkOzzie @craigkellyXXX Only around 34% did almost the same as the LNP. The difference is the other left leaning parties gave their preference to Labour. The right leaning parties didn’t align. They need to join together or labour will be in forever.
@RickyDoggin How can Australia an ally come to the table when we already have a free trade agreement and we unlike most countries have a negative trade balance. If we used the same formula we should be putting tariffs on the USA. Instead against their formula we have a 10% tariff imposed.
Give them temporary work visa. Make them return home after the season. This benefits everyone. It benefits the USA with needed labour and benefits their home town when they return home to spend their money locally. Its the best system to benefit that mutually benefits everyone. Turning a blind eye does not work. The seasonal work does not provide enough money to live comfortably and their local home town loses out as well.
