Jesus's suffering was not anything *beyond* or *extra* to the human condition under Sin & Death. It was full participation in humanity's plight. It was *for* the benefit of all, not as a "substitution," but so that by partaking of "the same"... 1/3
A few months ago, in that blurry haze of new motherhood, I left my infant daughter Eureka on the couch for just a few seconds. She rolled and slipped and tumbled to the floor, hitting her head, then burst out crying. /a thread to #SaveMelissaLucio
I was wrong & embarrassingly ignorant to assume — no, believe! — liturgical churches of any kind were dry & boring with meaningless rituals practiced by detached people and that liturgical churches (across the board!) did not value the Scriptures OR the gospel the way “we” did.
It's truly amazing. It's the American dream. Someone can start out homeless-in a camp!-and can pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and go on to achieve great things, like being a genocidal tyrant. TN state government (run by GOP) is the worst state government in the US.
TN Senator says Hitler made something of himself after being homeless & you can too. I’m going to have to apologize to the universe for this guy. Hey @MeidasTouch not a single day passes without TN GOP embarrassing the hell out of our state.😬 @meiselasb @meidasjordy @BMeiselas
Christianity is not a western faith.
So many folks here (including many black & brown folks) are ignorant of the rich Eastern Christian tradition and how many of our black & brown ancestors have been worshiping Jesus since many white folks’ ancestors were worshiping Thor.

Church Growth Theory didn’t result in church growth, and the Christian leadership industry didn’t give us better leaders. So can we stop trying to do Christian ministry with tools from the fields of marketing, management and psychology now?!
Who has read up on the history of fascism?
If you have: what work is the mainstreaming & normalizing of Q-Anon rhetoric about pedophilia & child abuse & grooming doing in our present political moment?
My take: this demonization always leads to sanctioned mass violence.
Always.
