This is what happens when we can’t build housing. NIMBYs are killing the future of our party. Democrats need to learn how to build shit again. We need to massively cut the red tape that prevents us from building mixed use, transit oriented development cheap and quickly.
blue states, i'm going to really need all of you to begin some semblance of an effort to build housing. this is ridiculous no matter how you look at it
Kamala gives a full throated YIMBY message on ending the housing shortage tonight, to thunderous applause:
“For years we have heard excuses about why America can’t build enough housing. Enough with the excuses, I’m gonna cut the red tape…to speed up building and get it done!"
If you're understandably upset about climate change this week, a reminder of why it's happening, where oil company profits come from, and that changing the design of our cities is a huge part of the solution
YIMBYs have helped to pass 65 bills in 20 states in the past 12 months alone—putting in the work to actually end bad policies like parking mandates and apartment bans. It isn't just a "talk shop" like so many preceding urbanist movements. https://t.co/ZPdPEVWYCi
@its_mccarthy@SantaCruzYIMBY just wrapped up reading this as our first bookclub pick! I really enjoyed the history, especially of the major players still around Santa Cruz.
Imagine asking Barack Obama what he wants to talk about at the DNC, and right off the bat he's like, "Oh, well, we've gotta talk about the scourge of exclusionary zoning in Democratic cities!"
Man is a certified YIMBY! He's one of us!
"There’s a serious housing shortage. It’s too difficult to build, & it’s driving prices up. We will take down barriers & cut red tape including at the state & local levels. We will end America's housing shortage by building 3,000,000 new homes."
Kamala just went full YIMBY!
YIMBYs to the white house!
"We have permitting that takes too long...and prohibits or makes more expensive doing renewable energy projects. I think that same thing applies to housing. We put up barriers to making it more affordable." - Democratic VP Candidate Tim Walz
I wish to personally express my sincerest gratitude to whomever it is on the Trump campaign who convinced Trump it was a good idea to have him appear before the @NABJ. Whoever you are, you are a true patriot, and your country is in your debt.
The @TheCACoast needs new staff. And if the commissioners vote to support this staff recommendation, they will need new commissioners. @CAgovernor@GavinNewsom should take note.
