Something I've been pondering on lately....
I see a lot of back and forth about what cattle SHOULD be worth. This number is always higher than the cost of production. IMPLYING that the market should ensure that the producer is profitable - always.
Is that the markets job?
Let me be the first to admit that, as a producer, I have absolutely whined about the cost of cattle and negative margins at placement and terrible ROIs and bla bla bla.
But no one is entitled to being profitable. It is NOT the markets job to ensure you make money.
