@PaulEmbery@afneil They are nut jobs because they believe they have cracked the secret of the economic version of perpetual motion. If it worked, we’d be doing it already. It doesn’t work and that’s why whole societies collapse when it’s tried.
"Hurt" is not an original by Johnny Cash. The song was written by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) in 1994 for the album The Downward Spiral. Rick Rubin had to insist several times on Cash recording his version, at first Johnny found the idea completely insane because the original version is industrial and noisy. At 71, already very ill, almost blind and with trembling hands, Cash completely transformed the band.
The iconic video, directed by Mark Romanek, was filmed at the House of Cash (his own museum). June Carter Cash appears looking at him fondly, the video was shot in February 2003, a few months before she died (May) and Johnny himself (September).
Trent Reznor was so moved that he declared, "This song is not mine anymore." It is considered one of the best covers of all time.
@RazorOil The human race has a very long history of warfare - with hundreds of examples to choose from. Every war is not a simple repeat of WW2, every opposing leader is not Hitler and every negotiator is not Chamberlain. WW2 is just the last war where you were on the winning side.
@polispol Objects can’t start moving without an external force. This sudden movement of an inanimate object defies the laws of motion. Complete and total bullshit.
Just to be clear Scott, the oil out at sea has already been sold, the money has already cleared Iranian banks and it's heading to its destination.
Did you imagine that Iran ships oil and has it circling the world looking to find a buyer?
Do you think that might explain why Iran told you there is no spare capacity?
Did you not realise that removing sanctions doesn't compel Iran to sell it to anyone you would like to see it sold too?
Do you not realise that Iran sells oil with sanctions in place and the US has been powerless to prevent that happening?
I have an equation:
(The longer the conflict goes on) x (the longer it takes people to panic) = the bigger the breakdown.

@AverageDipBuyer Landing on Kharg would be a strategic blunder of gargantuan proportions. Any force that succeeded in landing could not be resupplied or extracted. They’d be in a killing zone until they are all dead. Stupid, stupid, stupid - that’s why it will never happen.
Here is everything I have to say on Hormuz along with some thoughts on how it could impact portfolios
Key takeaways:
- Gas supply is more precarious than oil
- It may be easier than some expect to meaningfully disrupt trade
- Europe and Asia are big losers
- Supply chain issues run beyond energy: Look downstream for the most interesting opportunities
