@lmenzell Yeah, I also think any future films need to just build out the sequel era or start fresh with a relatively unknown era.
The average moviegoer doesn't pay attention to anything besides the core movies and has the attn span of a walnut so anything short of a soft reboot won't work

Hot take Mandalorian and grogu isn’t that bad

It’s forgettable and inoffensive but like, holy people forget how bad these movies can be

It’s definitely better than AOTC and TRoS for sure, like a solid 2/5 but reasonably fun if you don’t use your brain

@lmenzell I also don't think it's at an all time low at all. It's just an all time low for Disney, who was expecting to take over the world with the franchise.

I think it's okay for Star Wars to be on the small screen and be niche nerd franchise with mostly animated content, books+comics

anything else is for the hardcore fans unfortunately, I really don't think the average moviegoer is capable of handling deep lore

Also it’s incredibly odd that it weirdly feels like the *least* formulaic Star Wars movie since it’s not trying to hit the entire checklist of Star Wars tropes and is just satisfied with being two side quest episodes of Mandalorian duct taped together with a bigger budget

@westofhouse this sequence in the first season in particular drove me up a wall lol, using these types of lenses willy nilly when adapting from animation is just stylistically wack to me

Personal pet peeve but I really hate when adaptations of 2D animation use very wide lenses without intention. 2D animation usually doesn’t show lens distortion or any artifacts like that unless it’s super intentional, and the airbender live action uses them really sloppily tbh

@westofhouse Good place to take inspo but Shogun is way more intentional with its cinematography imo But yea I think it's just a trendy look for two shots and wides

For example the recent GDT Frankenstein has so so so many shots with incredibly wide lenses and tons of distortion
