Texas homebuilders are 31% more motivated to sell than the typical US homebuilder, leading our new-construction motivated sellers index at 5.9 versus the national 4.5.

That also puts Texas well ahead of the next-most-motivated states - Florida, Colorado, and South Carolina - which are all tied at 5.1.

(For context: nationally, the all-units index sits at 5.1, and new construction at 4.5.)

Texas homebuilders are working hard to find buyers, and they've run out of tricks. They're now cutting prices, cutting them more often, and cutting them deeper.
