the thing I find most odious about the Cubs is they're the model for 26/30 franchises:
-tank your way to a cheap core you'll never pay to keep
-get (in hindsight) lucky during a short title window
-become the largest landlord in the city
-cash checks in perpetuity without trying
Congrats are in order for Blas Castano, who was released in mid-2023 by the Yankees and signed by Seattle to fill out the Double-A rotation for the last two months of the season. He's come a long way, quickly.
However this game or series turns out, I'm happy that the Yankees' bad defense has been punished this series. Let's go back to the nerds loving Brendan Ryan
Every childhood picture of Cole and Volpe in pinstripes reminds me of how hard they must've worked and how much they've overcome to get where they are.
Not very many people have the drive and courage to become successful adults despite being raised by Yankee fans.
