Raise Your Hand Texas supports public policy solutions that invest in our students, encourage innovation, autonomy, and improve college and workforce readiness.
What an incredible weekend at #LAUNCH2026! ๐ Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to share the amazing work happening in your communities.
We heard from @txstatepta groups who have funded scholarships, supported counselor salaries, and turned empty pastures into world-class playgrounds. Judging by our final board (swipe/see photos), there has been a massive statewide effort toward staff appreciation, classroom supplies, and family engagement!
We are energized and ready to keep supporting public schools across Texas all year long. Just like the team at Lee H. Means Elementary PTA (check out their message in the photos), you've all done amazing work so far and show no signs of slowing down! ๐

Texas is expected to add 2.3 million jobs by 2030, and @FortBendISD isn't waiting to prepare its students. The district is introducing CTE exploration in middle school while simultaneously expanding high school offerings including a new drone program and biomedical science courses.

@HarlingenCISD isn't just building world-class CTE programs for its own students. It's opening the doors to neighboring @lyfordcisd too. From the Zavala STEM Academy to a Firefighter Academy to competitive robotics, this multi-district pipeline is a model for how Texas communities can work together to expand opportunity.

Governor Abbott recently announced new workforce directives for Texas. Raise Your Hand Texas believes Texas students should be the primary pipeline for Texasโ high-paying trades and technical jobs. Equipping public schools to prepare their students to claim these opportunities and secure high-paying local jobs keeps our economy โTexas-First.โ
A new, dedicated funding stream could serve as the long-term funding strategy to support these workforce priorities for decades to come. This new revenue stream could be dedicated to helping Texas public schools do their part to meet workforce needs and strengthen economic competitiveness.
The Potential areas of funding needs from Gov. Abbott's directive include:
Career and Technical Education (CTE) equipment and facilities
Industry-based certifications and workforce credentials
Apprenticeship and work-based learning programs
Recruitment and retention of CTE and skilled trades instructors
Rural workforce training and career pathway expansion
Partnerships between school districts, community colleges, and employers
Emerging workforce needs in high-growth industries
591 industry certifications. 298 seniors graduating career-ready. It's clear why @granburyisd was named a CTE District of Distinction by CTAT in 2025.
โGranbury ISDโs CTE success is the result of years of collaboration with local industry, committed teachers, and students who are eager to learn,โ said Todd Gibson, CTE Director.

Raise Your Hand Texas applauds Governor Abbott's recent workforce directives based on recommendations from the Texas Jobs Council. Texas must do more to prepare students and workers for high-demand careers, and these initiatives establish a clear workforce strategy. The call for expanded apprenticeships, industry certifications, workforce dual-credit opportunities, career advising, and stronger pathways into occupations such as healthcare, construction, manufacturing, and the skilled trades will help future-proof our workforce and lay a foundation for continued prosperity for Texans.
That's why we look forward to working with the Governor, lawmakers, educators, and stakeholders during the next legislative session to build on this momentum. In doing so, we propose establishing a dedicated funding stream that could provide the long-term funding strategy needed to sustain these workforce priorities and help schools better prepare students for decades to come.

Juneteenth has deep roots right here in Texas. On June 19, 1865, Galveston became the birthplace of a day the whole nation now celebrates. We are proud to honor that legacy and the resilience, joy, and community it represents.
