More weight behind Jack Smiley being thought of as a 1st team/POTY candidate in the MVC this season. At this point I would pencil in at least 2 Belmont players per year that exhibit a Scharnowski/Orme level jump in development and expect most MVC fans to overlook them prior to it
The transfer portal era is in full force, but for many mid-major teams, the backbone of the program is still development.
In the Missouri Valley, there are plenty of breakout candidates. Here are 3 that I'm keeping my eye on in my latest for @mid_madness

"In 2023...he said, I KNOW HOW TO WIN."
"I like this guy!"
"Just 2 years later, he brought home the national championship." 🔥

And there it is. Casey Alexander brings over 0 players from Belmont. His stated reason for taking the K State job was to be able to keep the talent he’s developed. Not a great start on that
"Multiple sources have told Basket Under Review that Belmont’s athletic administration has been intentional about allocating more money towards roster building, though. The indication is that Belmont has significantly more money to spend and has adjusted its way of thinking. "
Belmont coach Evan Bradds left the program nine years ago, saw his life derailed and encountered basketball royalty. As a result, he's back in Nashville as @BelmontMBB's head coach.
“This is a dream come true,” he told @basket_review.

Notre Dame transfer Jalen Haralson has committed to Tennessee, his father tells @GoVols247.
Why did Jalen Haralson pick the Vols? "Coach Barnes. His ability to get guys to the next level. Obviously, we'll have a good team here. So, it's a good spot."
