@Lord_Ori_@SecRubio@Sophie_Mokoena@POTUS South Africa has became more poor and unequal since the implementation of these "redress" policies. While many other countries have been able to uplift their people out of poverty during the same time.
@DearestDr Realistically South Africa cannot be saved. The population is becoming more poor and uneducated as time progresses. Resulting in the continuation of our retarded politics.
@bbfaygoated@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@Gaismair I do acknowledge it. It does not, however, make 30+ years of weak growth, high unemployment, collapsing infrastructure, and persistent crime automatically inevitable. Perpetual victimhood is the reason this cycle continues. Again only 100+ years then we can move on.
@bbfaygoated@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@Gaismair Comparative analysis is exactly how this works. Economists and political scientists routinely compare countries with different histories, starting points, and institutions to see what policies and governance produce better outcomes.
@bbfaygoated@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@Gaismair The problem isn’t a shortage of authoritarianism it’s poor governance, bad policy choices, and lack of delivery. Blaming “what the white people did” doesn’t explain why outcomes stayed so weak for three decades while other countries improved from worse starting points.
@bbfaygoated@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@Gaismair 4. Civil war (1980–92) killed 75,000 people. After that it suffered some of the world’s highest gang homicide rates for decades (often 50–100+ per 100k, higher than South Africa’s). It was poorer and more violently unstable for longer.
@bbfaygoated@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@Gaismair 3.
After the Korean War it was physically destroyed and one of the poorest countries on earth (GDP per capita in 1960 was only ~$160 vs South Africa’s ~$530). It started from far worse destruction and poverty than South Africa in 1994.
@bbfaygoated@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@Gaismair 2.Correct, Botswana never had apartheid. It started as one of the poorest countries on earth in 1966 with almost no infrastructure. Good policy still turned it around. “We had apartheid” doesn’t explain 30+ years of post-1994 underperformance.
@bbfaygoated@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@Gaismair We started with better infrastructure, a bigger economy, and huge mineral wealth compared to those places. The real question is why South Africa has stagnated or gone backwards on crime, electricity, unemployment, and growth while others improved.
@bbfaygoated@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@Gaismair No two countries are identical, but plenty of countries have started poorer, more violent, more unequal, or more destroyed than South Africa in 1994 and still made big progress in less than 33 years. (Rwanda, Botswana, S. Korea, El Salvador).
@bbfaygoated@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@Gaismair The amount of countries that were able to uplift its people out of poverty within this time is crazy. El Salvador president Nayib Bukele’s also solved their massive crime problem in 6 years. Your statement is simply false.
@tryantthelesser@shiningbower@SodomOnline@bbfaygoated@Gaismair And in 30+ years of a government implementing reform policies it has turned the country into a failing state. When does it become the current governments fault? 100+ years? When all the white people have left?
