@BinaryRecording What I loved most was it's size over sound, which was great btw. I've put it in many varied acoustic spaces …tiled bathrooms, buckets, grand pianos, cars, mic'd and put through a 122 Leslie. Long live the Pig! Thanks Binary!!
@BinaryRecording Is that a Neuman KM-84? That'd be a damn fine choice. Old skoul engineering legend, Luis Pastor "Val" Valentin, once said to me …"Scotti, if it doesn't sound good to your ear why would you think it'll sound good to the microphone? Place the mic where it sounds good to your ear"
@BinaryRecording Great plug-in's …some of my favorites (Abbey Road) when I worked MSPS. For those wow'd by 'The Beatles' recording greatness on "Only a 4-trk machine". They did …on a $30K 4-trk mach. In 2020 $ that's $238,000. Quality gear isn't cheap. Never has been.
@BinaryRecording It does an old ear well to know that in our art form of Capture, Store, Release of musical talent; my favorite part, capture, the basics will forever remain the same. "If it doesn't sound good to the ear why would it sound any better to the microphone" Val Valentin 1920-1999
@BinaryRecording Gee Bob, I was excited about the invent of concentric pots. My mentors called me "spoiled kid" for needing more than a mic cable, basic gain pre-amp, tape & a SM-56. Thanks for making me feel old. Is HiFi still a thing? :)
@GenChuckYeager Thank you General sir. You have inspired my life, also the life of our oldest daughter, who you spoke with at Edwards AFB when she was a young flight medic. She has passed on to her children your "Press On" attitude for life. That is 3 generations sir. TX!!
