A police chief in Oshkosh, Wisconsin caught Flock lying to his city council, and killed the $8 billion surveillance company's contract less than a day after the council had approved it.

Here's how it happened.

The night before, Oshkosh's council was set to renew its deal with Flock Safety, the license plate camera company backed by a16z and Tiger Global.

One council member asked the Flock rep a plain yes-or-no question. Does this system build a heat map of everywhere a specific car travels over time?

Flock's rep said no.

The council believed him and voted 5 to 2 to renew. By the next morning, Chief Dean Smith's own officers had told him that answer was false.

So he pulled up the system himself. He watched it generate the exact heat map Flock had just sworn it couldn't make.

Then he walked into an emergency meeting and said it out loud: "Because of this misrepresentation, I can no longer recommend Flock."

Understand what a heat map is, because it's the whole trick.

Flock sells cities a tidy little story. A car drives by, we snap a photo, we read the plate, that's all it is.

But the same system can quietly average out where your car goes day after day and paint your routine onto a map.

Not one snapshot at one corner. Your pattern. Where you sleep, where you work, where you keep going back and how often.

A Flock employee later admitted on the record that the software does exactly that.
So the pitch and the product are two different things. The company wins the contract selling a plate reader, then sits on a moving map of your life.

The only reason Oshkosh caught it was one skeptical question and a police chief who bothered to check the answer.

The vote to rescind was 7 to 0. Unanimous.

Flock called the whole thing "one small misconception" from a long meeting and said it was disappointed nobody let it explain.

A surveillance company worth eight billion dollars got caught lying about whether it maps where you drive. Its defense was that the lie was small.

Oshkosh got one honest answer by accident. Congress can make it the rule.

🤑When UW-Madison wants tuition, they explain the rules on residency very strictly ("full twelve month period prior to enrollment").
🗳️When UW-Madison describes voting, they tell students only half the story ("have resided in Wisconsin for at least 28 consecutive days").
The standards are of course governed by different state laws. But UW-Madison's voting explanation only says 28 days (Wis. Stat. 6.02), and doesn't explain the more strict requirement in Wis. Stat. 6.10. As @RickEsenberg pointed out, it is not just 28 days, but this: "The residence of a person is the place where the person’s habitation is fixed, without any present intent to move, and to which, when absent, the person intends to return." Meaning, like, you are actually a resident of Wisconsin and your real home isn't your mom and dad's house in Minnesota.
This came up because of an anecdote I heard about on-campus voter registration drives going on right now and what is being said to out-of-state students. These are just stories, but it would be nice if perhaps some reporters could go and ask the question: "what exactly are you telling out-of-state students about residence?" @uwfederalist

•Corn-fed instead of pasture

Processed at scale, one pound of "ground beef" can come from a dozen+ cows blended together.

A batch already hit US retail in TX and FL last month before completing safety reinspection, meaning it reached shelves without finishing the safety check. Not to mention: China rejected an Argentine shipment for a banned antibiotic, chloramphenicol, as recently as March 2026.

Under new 2026 USDA rules, "Product of USA" legally means born, raised, slaughtered, AND processed on American soil. This is the only label that guarantees those standards.

Buying American is also how you support American ranchers getting undercut by these imports.

Zooming out… this is the real state of beef in America right now:

•Untraceable imported meat from unknown conditions

•Lab-grown meat, already FDA-cleared, landing on shelves

•Domestic ranchers doing it right and getting squeezed from every direction

This is what a food system optimizing for cheap and fast over real and transparent looks like.

For the next 90 days, and beyond, find a local rancher and buy directly.

Vote with your dollars. That's how you actually know what's in your beef, and how you ensure the ranchers and butchers doing this right stay in business.

He went to the remote Aleutian Islands in Alaska, where Senator Murkowski said these voters would have to travel to Anchorage just to register to vote.

James visited the Unalaska Public Library & the clerk stated that voters CAN register to vote there

as well as prove citizenship.

This video proves that there is no reason for Senator Murkowski to be against the SAVE America Act.

It makes you wonder why Murkowski is against this country-saving legislation when her voters want it.

Peter = Petros (πέτρος) → a movable stone, small rock

Rock = Petra (πέτρα) → a massive immovable foundation

Jesus does not say: "You are Petra, and upon this Petra…" He says: “You are Petros, and upon this Petra I will build my church."

They are not the same word. The "rock" is not Peter, but something else. Petra in Scripture always refers to God/Christ, never a human.

"The Lord is my rock (petra)" (Psalm 18:2)

"That Rock (petra) was Christ." (1 Corinthians 10:4)

Christ is the Petra, the foundation.

Peter is only a petros, a stone.

Jesus had already identified the "rock." The context explains it: Peter’s confession: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (v.16)

THAT is the "rock" Jesus refers to, not Peter himself.

Protestants didn’t invent this: Nearly every early Church Father understood the rock as Christ or Peter’s confession.

The Woodville High School graduate completed the school’s plumbing program and passed the Texas state tradesman exam — becoming one of the first high school students in the state to do so.

He stepped into adulthood with specialized training, an industry credential, and a real career already underway.
