Therapists, if you can travel, please do it, even if it’s while working. Explore new places, taste new food, engage with a new culture. Find a way to hold space for new experiences for your self.
James Baldwin said, “I realized that writing was not simply the act of writing—that it was something else, something much harder. Which is to tell the truth.” And clarifying things “first of all for myself and then for others.” Being honest with ourselves is part of the work.

My Uber driver in Lisbon asked me what part of Brazil I was coming from? I was like wait I haven't said a word yet how do you know I'm Brazilian?
Uber Driver- only Brazilians will give a brown kid a peculiar Greek name (Points to my name on his phone) lol.
The fact that our physical needs were taken care of doesn't mean we were immune to neglect growing up.
Emotional neglect can be hard to put our finger on in this materialistic culture-- but emotional needs ARE needs. Safety & patience & validation & mirroring f*cking MATTER.
Being part of clients lives— their stories,
their wins, their losses, their pain, their healing, their sadness, their joy —- it’s something I cannot describe into words.
It is hard, it’s draining, it’s enlightening, it’s inspiring, it’s empowering, it’s beautiful.

Grief runs deep, touching every corner of our lives – including our wallets. We overlook how it can throw our finances off balance.
A thread -
We are NOT gonna wrestle, shame, bully, or coerce our trauma responses & symptoms into "submission." That's kinda the exact OPPOSITE of what realistic, sustainable trauma recovery is all about.
Coercion is how we were hurt. It's not how we're gonna heal.
I know. Easy does it.
