One month ago, a lady went to buy some food from a grocery store. A few men misbehaved with her. When she started shouting for help, 8 men surrounded her and started touching her private parts, accusing her of having an extramarital affair with that shopkeeper. They made her walk around 1 Km while touching her.

Two days ago, a headmaster of a government school was arrested for misbehaving with second class students and telling them to sit on his lap one by one.

Now yesterday, these goons harassed a 8th class student just for roaming with her best friend.

A 5 yo, a 14 yo and a 26 year old. None of them was spared. I have no words for the men living in Bihar 🙏

This is how this country treats women.

They call women “devis.”

Yet women continue to face rape, sexual harassment and violence.

They preach “respect for women.”

Yet survivors are often questioned, blamed or shamed instead of being supported.

They worship women as goddesses.
But some women still have to fight for basic safety and dignity.

Girls are taught how to avoid harassment.
How to dress.
Where to go.
When to come home.

But why isn’t the same effort put into teaching men not to harass, assault or rape women?

इतिहास में आत्ममुग्धता की एक कहानी लिखी जाएगी। बिहार में एक तरफ बाढ़ थी, दूसरी तरफ सूखे की मार थी। प्रजा परेशान थी, अपने घर और रोज़मर्रा की जिंदगी बचाने में लगी थी। और उसी समय राजा ने अपने लिए दीया जलवाया था।

इतिहास में यह भी लिखा जाएगा कि जब प्रजा अंधेरे में थी, तब सत्ता अपने लिए रोशनी का उत्सव मना रही थी।

इससे बड़ा प्रजा का उपहास और क्या होगा? 🙏

अस्सी-नब्बे के दशक में शहरों में भी कहीं-कहीं एक-दो मूर्तियाँ बैठती थीं, गाँवों में तो चलन ही नहीं था। अब हर गली-मोहल्ले में साल में दो-तीन बार मूर्तियाँ बैठती हैं और विसर्जन के नाम पर नदियाँ-झीलें प्रदूषित होती हैं। इस पर भारत में कोई गंभीर चर्चा नहीं है।
