To be honest, I don’t like and appreciate this DJ culture of Kanwariyas, it is killing the original Bhakti.

What was once a walk of penance, silence and surrender has turned into a travelling DJ party for many. I say this as someone who deeply respects the Yatra itself. Bhakti demands discipline. It asks you to carry Shiva in your heart, not just a kanwar on your shoulder. But what do we see now? Shout, dance, return home, and by next morning it is all forgotten. No sadhana, no reflection, no lasting connection with dharma. This is the template we are handing to our next generation, and they will inherit the noise but not the devotion. If we truly love our culture, we must ask ourselves an uncomfortable question. Are we worshipping Mahadev, or are we just performing for the crowd?

CM Devendra Fadnavis said religious conversions through force, fraud, or inducement will face stringent action.

Key provisions:

• Under the law, children born from an illegal interfaith marriage will be deemed to follow the mother's pre-marriage religion.

• Up to 7 years' imprisonment and a fine of up to ₹5 lakh for conversions carried out through force, fraud, or inducement.

• Up to 10 years' imprisonment for repeat offenders.

• Institutions found guilty can face penalties and a ban.

• Those seeking to convert voluntarily must notify the Magistrate at least 60 days in advance.
