@716tax Maybe a bit worse, but you never know. One extra year of experience for the young core (Ostland, Helenius, Power, others) can mean a lot, and possibly negate the losses of Tuch/Byrum. And, no way it makes sense to pay that kind of dough. Our future is bright
@JFreshHockey I liked Byrum as a Sabre. Very good second pair D-man with offensive upside. But, a D liability and we were lucky that his historical injury-prone status was avoided. I do not believe he has earned #1 D-man money and this could look very bad, very soon. Time will tell.
@William76058571@YouTube After what was seen as a “clean hit at the time”, it’s interesting to see Wensink genuinely concerned about Playfair…uncommon at the time
@thescorechicago@frank_seravalli As a Sabres fan(atic), I liked Byrum. He was a very good 3rd or 4th D-man on our team. Is he worthy of a #1 spot (including the likely $12M price after next year), I don’t believe so. Wish him the best, but I’m very happy with the return we got.
@HockeyWays Kess is becoming an RFA and the Sabres were not going to re-sign him given their current situation wanting to sign Benson to a Doan-like contract and with other possibilities for signings (e.g., Krebs). They would have lost him, so getting something is “something”. I’m good
