A few weeks ago, I had the incredible honour of stepping onto the iconic 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝘁 of the 𝗧𝗘𝗗𝘅 stage in 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮 🇦🇹 to share a message that is deeply meaningful to me.

In this talk, I explored how the way we 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 influences 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿 at scale, and why 𝗨𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻-𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 are not just product disciplines, but powerful tools for 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 at large.

Because every digital experience we create quietly decides who gets to participate, who feels empowered, and who risks being left behind.

Australia 🇦🇺 stands tall on the Global Stage, once again.

Over the past decade, I have had the privilege of identifying, mentoring, promoting, and championing some of 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮’���� 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆-𝗳𝗼𝗿-𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 through the 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 (WSA), helping position Australian innovators on a Global Stage where they compete with the very best digital solutions from 182 @UN member states in pursuit of the 𝗨𝗡 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 (𝗦𝗗𝗚𝘀).

This year is yet another proud moment to celebrate Australian excellence.

At the WSA 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 in Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹, two outstanding Australian innovations were recognised as WSA Global Winners:
🏆 @rosterfy in Smart Settlements & Urbanisation
🏆 @getmeeai in Government & Citizen Engagement
A remarkable achievement among 182 United Nations member states.

And behind these innovations are two exceptional founders - Bennett Merriman and Balendran Thavarajah whose vision, leadership, and commitment to impact continue to push Australian innovation onto the global map. This is what it looks like when technology is built with purpose.

Stepping back from Vienna, across conversations, collaborations, and showcased solutions, one message came through clearly:
👉 The future of democracy will be built digitally
👉 But it must remain deeply human

Australia’s success this year is more than a moment of recognition.
It is a signal. That we are not just building technology…
we are contributing to the global blueprint of how digital societies should function.

And a heartfelt thank you to WSA Chairperson Prof. Dr. Peter A. Bruck, Nora Wolloch, Hanna-Mari Ristimäki, Kathi Bucsits and the incredible WSA global team for organising one of the most meaningful and well-executed Global Congresses we’ve experienced. Bringing together 182 nations with such depth, energy, and purpose is no small feat.

Proud. Energised. And more committed than ever.
