@BrendanJacka@maiasz@RIHEALTH@LizSamuels@pph_collective@WeberRenew @ricares1 Our community partners do a phenomenal job with narcan distribution...couple this with reluctance to present to the ED postoverdose 2/2 COVID and I think it could explain the disproportionate rates of ED presentation for non fatal OD and OD deaths
@BrendanJacka@maiasz@RIHEALTH@LizSamuels@pph_collective@WeberRenew @ricares1 Great question, the study looks like it shows decreased ED visit counts for OD, but increased rate (not statistically significant). I think are data is tough to interpret with the dramatic decrease in ED utilization at the beginning of COVID.
Excellent piece from @LizSamuels and @UtshaKhatriMD detailing the importance of maintaining an audio only option for buprenorphine assessment to address disparate access to life-saving medications
The science (https://t.co/EMinGeUbNr), PWUD (https://t.co/2UCbL0b0Jb), community parters (@WeberRenew @ricares1), physicians (@RIMedSoc@LizSamuels), & legislature (@Annajane_Y @SenatorMillerRI) agree...the time is now to save lives w/ an overdose prevention site in Rhode Island
Beautiful memorial to those lost due to #overdose by the @RhodeIsland_CSL. Thank you to all who organized and spoke at this call to action. We were honored to participate. #ThisIsACrisis

If you live in RI and you want to talk to someone about starting buprenorphine treatment, you can talk to a provider right now, for free, by calling 401-606-5456. https://t.co/xXwInYzjTn
Initial evidence from RI: With the help of nimble state government and committed professionals, removing legal barriers to OUD treatment -> more people who want tx being able to get it. Great work, @SAClarkMD@LizSamuels et al. https://t.co/WrluQ2OkHv
Overturn of the @SafehousePhilly ruling reflects how little our society cares for the lives of ppl who use drugs & ppl w/ SUDs, while overdose deaths soar.

Working on the frontlines but somehow often unseen. Our community partners aren’t only providing compassionate, humanistic care, but also preventing ED visits and hospitalizations which has never been more important for our stained hospital system.
Rhode Islanders please consider signing this letter urging action re an OD prevention site in RI. As OD deaths continue to set records in our state, we are in desperate need of evidence-based strategies to mitigate the risks of an extremely dangerous and unpredictable drug supply
As we see a devastating increase in #overdose deaths, we are urging Gov. Raimondo to issue an executive order to allow an overdose prevention pilot program in #RI. Please sign! @marshall__lab @LizSamuels @ricares1 @_alexbcollins @JesseSprockets
