Our babies died because of unsafe NHS care, and now we've come together to call for a statutory national public inquiry on maternity safety. #MaternityInquiry
😡 I can’t quite believe this, when in the last month my direct letter to Charlie Massey raising concerns was redirected to standard @gmcuk channels and minimised.

Families whose babies died because of failings in maternity care at hospitals in Barnsley, Birmingham, Bradford, Dartford, Derby, Dorset, Hampshire, Leeds, Nottingham, Oxford and Sussex have been deeply critical of this 'rapid review'.
We have been betrayed by @wesstreeting.
We have made it clear time and time again, nothing but @DOckendenLtd investigating LTHT will uncover the truth about the sheer volume of failings at this Trust.
@wesstreeting@DHSCgovuk
Another maternity inquiry wholly focused on care delivered on labour wards. The policies and targets set for those trusts by DHSC, NHS England, and their response to concerns is conspicuously absent.
@wesstreeting has said maternity safety keeps him up at night but to date has done nothing to rectify the awful condition of maternity service across England.
This is why we need a public inquiry, it’s not local problems, it is across the country

The figures in here are very worrying and will strenghten calls for an inquiry: Leeds is being compared with its peers - sites which also take very sick children - and yet its mortality rates are significantly and consistently higher. 1/2
MBRRACE has published its perinatal mortality data for 2023. This includes stillbirths & neonatal deaths, broken down by NHS Trust/health board.
And with a backdrop of national failure, unsafe care, and avoidable deaths, one Trust stands out - Leeds.

Babies Aliona, Grace, Asees, Martha and so many more should be alive, and if @LeedsHospitals had looked after them properly, they would be.
Families are now calling for an independent review - hard to see how @wesstreeting could say no with this new data.

For a trust which says their baby deaths are comparable to those of similar levels, these numbers make absolutely 0 sense.
Unless they have chosen to lie to us, the public and media as recently as last month @LeedsHospitals
@Safe_Maternity@LeedsHospitals I wonder how many families might not have needlessly had their lives also ruined if the CQC had actually listened to us and other families in Leeds nearly 5 years ago when we first presented everything to them.
In 2022, Leeds had the highest number of neonatal deaths in the UK, Martha being one.
All we kept getting told is ‘ lessons will be learnt and training will be provided’ MBRRACE has published its data for 2023, please tell me what lessons have been learnt?
Further evidence of what we and other families failed by Leeds maternity services have been saying for a very long time…. The first graph is hugely alarming ‼️ 👀 🚨
