Police Child and Family Protection Unit (CFPU) now a Dept was established in 1998. Offices are spread countrywide at every station. Mandate: To create and environment in which men, women, children and other family members'rights are recognised, respected, protected and promoted.

Engaging Local leaders on the views of community members, they pledged to enhance community policing and community By-laws as a response to crime and violence. With no action, crime is likely to even increase during this critical period of #COVID19 lockdown.

Crime & violence are some of the most prevailing concerns affecting urban slum settlements today. With support from @ACTogetherUG under the Safe & incisive cities project, we traversed communities in the 5 divisions of Kampala to collect community views on the matter. @PoliceUg

Using the community inquiry approach, we were able to collect community views on how local leaders, police can enhance safety in the community. Many people have called for a more collective approach among stakeholders (police, LC's & community members) @AKasingye @PoliceUg

Street lighting in these areas. Dark corridors are now havens of crime and violence.

@AKasingye We need a holistic approach. Integrate all stakeholders, capacity build them and most importantly, Lets have this approach of all stakeholders clearly defined. For as young men and women we are open to collaborate and support all efforts.
