Then the Bhopal gas tragedy occurred in India. American citizen and owner of Union Carbide, Warren Anderson, and eight other senior American officials of Union Carbide were in Bhopal. A deal was struck between Ronald Reagan and Rajiv Gandhi. Under this deal, Rajiv Gandhi used a government plane to bring Anderson and the other Union Carbide officials from Bhopal to Delhi, and from Delhi, they were sent to the United States. Meanwhile, news broke in the US that Ronald Reagan had used his special powers to release Adil Shahryar from prison.
After his release, Adil Shahryar stayed in Delhi. There, he established a company called "Priyadarshini Institute Centre."
He received numerous contracts from various departments of the Government of India.
Adil Shahryar died in 1990 and was secretly buried.
