Episode Over:
The story is understandably predictable but I was noticing/speculating on a couple of technical things such as the cinematography and lighting that made me really enjoy the episode.
Loved Gabrielle's expanding story though Perdicus felt kinda stilted delivery?
"Things are a little more complicated than they seem..."
"Go find yourself something pretty to wear..."
The pants-wearing, pocket-i-can-fit-my-hand-in-loving woman in me is a little Madge at this guy, I won't lie 🤣
I'm sorry did bro just walk through a standing-person-high hidden hinged door through THE MAIN rampart wall DIRECTLY IN FRONT of the very populated and busy marketplace??
In broad daylight??
IN FRONT OF MY SALAD?
Long continuous takes feels like a lost art. I understand it's incredibly difficult and costly if someone flubs a line and everyone has to reset from the very beginning.
And if this was filmed on film that adds another level of complexity but idk I'm babbling and just enjoying🤷🏽♀️
I just realised this scene is a long continuous take with the camera tracking the actors from the moment Xena walks to BF across the wall! that's so damn cool!
& the way they discuss plotpoints and story beats is so naturalistic it's like they're just gossiping!
In 1 take!! 🤯
I might just be misremembering the old Eric Bana Brad Pitt movie but isn't Achilles involved in the Trojan War?
And Odysseus?
(Yeah I have Epic: The Musical on blast, fight me 😎)
I wonder if Boyfriend feels like one of those dudes who gets visited by friends at work and he's showing them around all proud like
"This does this"
"I do that"
"And this is my picture" 😄
Gabrielle is just twirling her staff here while the stuntman soldier holds his weapon and hops around as they wait for the drama to happen behind them 🤣
