I’m delighted to share that I have been offered the position of first ever Afghanistan Lead at @SAHM_UK

Thank you to @_JasvirSingh for nominating and recommending me for this opportunity and for creating this important role of Afghanistan Lead for me and for including Afghanistan in @SAHM_UK for the first time ever in 2025!

I am excited to see what we can do to amplify Afghanistan within the South Asia subcontinent.

Thank you to @_JasvirSingh, Co-founder and Founder of @citysikhs and @BinitaKane, Co-founder & Consultant Respiratory Physician at @university50809 for establishing @SAHM_UK in 2020.

@SAHM_UK is celebrated from July 18 to August 17 in the UK to recognise cultures and histories across South Asia, including Afghanistan, and it is led by various community groups and organisations, such as the South Asian Heritage Trust, that host events and initiatives. The theme for 2025, 'Roots to Routes', highlights the journeys and identities of people with roots in this region.

Afghanistan's Role & Inclusion:
Afghanistan is one of the countries recognised within @SAHM_UK, which serves to acknowledge the shared heritage and diaspora links between the UK and South Asian communities.

Stories of Resilience:
Through events like those mentioned above, the contributions and resilience of individuals from Afghanistan, including stories from the diaspora, are highlighted.
