I'm not going to sit here and say that autism is all sunshine and rainbows. There are days when I'm so tired of struggling to stay afloat, when I look at pics of family's NT kids and get angry and feel it's unfair that our lives have been so significantly changed-
@thatgirlwithbpd Do ppl seriously think we’ve never googled “BPD” and seen the hundreds of results all for other people on “how to deal with us” with barely any results for US to learn about our own dang illness
@kayla_skr_skr @FlGHTRFLlGHT My family was on a strange religious kick with lots of homophobic talk, so I thought I could "save" the people in the gay AOL chat. Got my account suspended, parents had to call and hear everything from the chat log. Never spoke another word about gay people afterward.
Anyone else pace when nervous?
My partner is painting the bathroom, and I'm so nervous I'm not going to like the end result once the color is all over, so I'm just nervously pacing and the house...I don't mean to seem ungrateful, just expectation vs reality, I guess. 😭
@ambientsidewalk It's also rather nice that I have an excuse not to attend all my appointments or scheduled events since everything has been out on hold or done remotely. I'm ok with a certain amount of routine, just nothing too suffocating (like being constantly on the go).
@ambientsidewalk I'm feeling the same way... I hate what's going on to cause it, but it feels like the world is more accepting of the usual way introverts and disabled people live because they're all being put in this position and forced to find new ways to work with it.
@LitterboxComics My youngest loves to remove her clothes constantly at home, and I can't even get too mad about it since I used to run around shirtless for the 1st half of my life.
Our youngest has ADHD and is super off the walls at all times, so I think he's basing this assumption off of her diagnoses. I'm not sure how to have this conversation with him because he always gets upset that I forget things he's said and thinks I'm doing it on purpose. 😶
@kingcelinemua@primediscussion I used to stay home with my kids when they were very young, and my spouse used to do that shit all the time (including breaking things of mine he paid for). I'm happily working now, separate bank, and make it a point to purchase my own gifts. NEVER let someone treat you lesser.
@AnathemaBloomer @AskingAutistics I'm really strange about being touched. Most of the time, I really want my personal space to be left alone unless you're invited in. Consent isn't just in relation to sex for me.
@AutistMakingWay My diagnoses was in January, but my brother was diagnosed at 2. We're 10 years apart in age, and his autism is much more noticable than mine because he's also mentally impaired due to premature birth. Not sure if any of that is helpful though.
