So yeah, many people quoted and replied to this tweet with their transcripts and certificates. I also posted mine, and in a couple of minutes, we already had several first-class students on the timeline with their transcripts, certificates and statement of results. Some got lucky and were rewarded by @adekunleGOLD, which is beautiful. But what hit me the most wasn't the kind gesture or cash reward, but the realisation that our country, Nigeria, is full of brilliant and striving young minds. People who truly put in their best, gave their all, faced adversities and still came out excellently well.

Yet brilliance is rarely acknowledged in this country, and hard work often goes unnoticed. That’s the real heartbreak. You see intelligent and diligent young people pulling off good results in harsh conditions, including no stable power supply, incessant strikes, financial stress, and emotional pressure. Yet, they still rise, break, and set new records.
Ultimately, all that effort is brushed aside, with no structure to support them and no working system to employ or reward them. Excellence here is more like a personal trophy, not a societal value. So, shoutout to @adekunleGOLD not just for the rewards to first-class students but for creating space for these faces to be seen and known. For many of us, this was the first time our efforts were validated in a public space like X.

But I hope that one day, Nigeria will become a place where excellence is appreciated. I hope we reach a place where brilliance is typical, supported, celebrated, and backed with life-changing opportunities.
