That’s just how the sarkari system works. Pul gir gaya, order bridge audit. Aag lag gayi, order fire audit. School ki chhat gir gayi, order school structural audit. Dawai se bachhe mar gaye, order pharma companies audit. Prevention ka system hi nahi hai. Sarkari kaam balidaan maangta hai.

But the irony is, kaam balidaan ke baad bhi nahi hota. All these knee-jerk audit drives become yet another opportunity for the sarkari naukars to earn more. "Oopar se pressure hai" bol kar they demand more and let the defaulters continues to operate unabated.

Judging Jauhar through a cushioned, 21st-century ideological lens is historical illiteracy wrapped in cheap academic posturing.

If Jauhar were just an invention of Hindu patriarchy or misogyny, where was it during the centuries of internal battles between Hindu kings? It didn't exist, because they fought with a certain honor that included not targeting non-combatants, including women, in any way. Jauhar emerged exclusively as a response to medieval Islamic invasions, where war wasn't just about territory, but systemic mass rape, forced conversion, and selling women off like livestock in foreign slave markets.

Feminists like Swara Bhasker preach about autonomy and choice, completely ignoring the reality of the situation. When foreign armies breached the fort, women didn't have a choice between death and living. Their only two options were a quick, self-inflicted death, or death after years of violent sexual abuse, physical torture, and horrific enslavement until their bodies gave out.

Condemning those women for burning themselves while ignoring the barbarians who drove them into the fire is pathetic victim-blaming. Jauhar was a tragedy, but the absolute onus belongs entirely on the invaders who forced that reality upon them.

She was a minor, Class XI student at a prestigious school in Bhopal, and became acquainted with a man identified as Ausaf Ali Khan (picture) through a friend.

As their interaction progressed, Ausaf groomed and persuaded her to go on a drive and took her to a secluded area in where he raped her inside a car. Police say the assault was premeditated.

Ausaf's associate, Maaz Khan, a gym owner, hid outside the car and secretly recorded the act. The video was then used to blackmail the girl, with the accused threatening to make it public unless she paid ₹1 lakh. The traumatised minor managed to give ₹40,000, but the abuse continued. She was also pressured convert to Islam and offer prayers.

When she cut off contact and blocked them, Ausaf sent the video to one of her friends to intimidate her into resuming communication. The matter eventually reached her family, following which a police complaint was lodged with the support of Hindu organisations.

Both accused have been arrested, and a SIT has been constituted to probe the case. The SIT will also examine whether other girls were similarly targeted and whether the accused used blackmail involving previous victims to establish contact.

A grim reminder of the 1992 Ajmer rape scandal, only the setting has changed, while the methods and intent remains the same.

Once again, parents, watch out, stay vigilant, and protect your children. Children may appear mentally mature for their age to you to let them have freedom, but emotionally they are most vulnerable during adolescence. This emotional lability is precisely why grooming gangs target minors, exploiting trust, curiosity, and the need for validation before crossing into coercion and abuse.
