@HristovaNera Does she have any non-physical skills that might help? In my last WIP the protagonist was an alchemist that had no combat skills, so she would either outsmart enemies or use concoctions to incapacitate them ๐
Morning #WritingCommunity!
I've been away the last few days editing a client's manuscript, I'm finally finished and it feels so good to have writing time again โ๏ธ
How's your week going so far?
#amwriting
@jodimaile2 I'm reading The First Law trilogy by @LordGrimdark just now and it's an absolute blast, can't recommend it enough ๐
It's got some of the most complex and intriguing characters I've ever seen in a fantasy series ๐
@derinandthalk @evwebsterwrites That's a good way to explain it!
This is such a common problem as well, it's a surefire way to break the reader's immersion ๐
@noctiscriptor Finding the voice is always exciting, well done!
I'm just about to hit the 30k mark on my WIP, it's been slow going at about 1k words per day, but I'm getting there ๐
@vickielanwrites Hi Vickie! I'm a freelance editor and I would recommend Fiverr as a good place to start for any creative freelancing.
You won't make a huge amount of money at the start, but you'll find clients without any hassle - it's a good way to build a portfolio ๐
@evwebsterwrites And one final, devastating rule: you might've spent hours thinking up a brilliant and complex political system for your world, but if it isn't relevant to your plot (and your characters don't experience it), it doesn't have to be explained to your readers.
@evwebsterwrites E.g. Your reader can learn about the magic system by your character casting (or seeing someone else casting) a spell.
Depending on their level of experience, your character might have the same questions as your readers! This is the time to (gradually) reveal info about it ๐
