Your app needs to tell me how to add the circuit it is suggesting when there isn’t any physical room. This isn’t just about calculating capacity, which is totally useless if there isn’t space for an additional circuit. My electrician says I would need to swap tandem (“peanut”) breakers for arc-fault breakers, which would violate code. He also says no manufacturer makes tandem arc-fault breakers, which leaves replacing the panel or adding a subpanel as the only compliant options. Do you agree?
I just tried the service and specified a 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Extended Range (131 kWh battery). The default calculation assumes it is fine to charge this huge pack at only 16 amps on a 20-amp breaker. Literally no one wants to charge that slowly at home. Shouldn’t the default be the circuit’s safe maximum, or at least 48 to 50 amps, which is what most owners target for proper Level 2 speeds?
Congratulations to Mayor Rosenbaum and Deputy Mayor Becker on stepping into leadership for Mercer Island, and thank you both for your service to our community.
