Sierra Leone’s Government Says It Has Engaged Rice Importers and that they have introduced a new pricing formula for imported rice in exchange for incentives to rice importers that will be in line with its FEED SALONE Initiative

That by tomorrow the wholesale price of 50kg parboiled rice will reduce to Le840 and by February it will further reduce to Le799 but the Government did not say what will be the price of retail which is what most Sierra Leoneans are concerned about.

While ruling party supporters are jubilating, economists believed that a semblance of price control in a free economy creates room for hoarding and artificial scarcity, noting that government should allow market forces to determine prices.
