Christiane Amanpour came prepared to corner and humiliate Reza Pahlavi at the Munich Security Conference.
What she got instead was a masterclass in dignity, clarity, and moral conviction.
His calm, articulate, and unapologetic defence of freedom for Iran left her visibly shaken — crossed arms, tight face, the unmistakable look of defeat.
Checkmate.
Bravo, @PahlaviReza.
@amanpour@CNN
Your bias was on full display today.
It is the people of Iran who will decide, after the overthrow of the Islamic Republic, who and what system of government will rule Iran. In the streets, millions of Iranians have chanted the name Pahlavi.
I hope you and Ms. Amanpour have the courage to accept the truth. Ms. Amanpour is someone who, almost 30 years ago, interviewed President Rafsanjani of the Islamic Republic on Iranian state television ,a man whose hands were stained with the blood of young Iranians. Even though she knew that the prisons of the Islamic Republic were full of political prisoners, she repeated the Islamic president’s claim that there were no political prisoners in Iran.
@cnnipr@amanpour@PahlaviReza Amanpour was extremely unprofessional in this interview, and it only made @PahlaviReza shine brighter.
There is no denying it. MILLIONS of Iranians want Reza Pahlavi to help them get rid of the barbaric Islamic regime currently occupying Iran.
While too many news outlets are busy debating whether Victoria Beckham did, or didn’t, steal her son’s first dance, thousands of Iranians are being murdered by their own government under an internet blackout.
Don’t stop talking about them.
The Beckhams can wait.
As an Iranian & liberal, I don’t know how to say this any clearer:
Stop making the Iranian revolution about who YOU like or don’t like politically in the west.
U either support freedom from a murderous oppressive regime or u don’t; & if u do just support Iranians. That’s it.
@IanMalcolm84@jk_rowling As an Iranian, you are SO wrong. The regime change is FOR Iranians and what millions of Iranians want and NEED before they’re all killed.
