Yesterday, I had the pleasure of receiving the team from the Nigeria-China Renewable Energy Research Centre (NC-RERC) in our first engagement since the Centre’s establishment.
Our discussions focused on strengthening collaboration, advancing renewable energy research, and exploring practical opportunities that will support Nigeria’s clean energy transition.
The establishment of NC-RERC through the strategic partnership involving the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and China Energy International Group Nigeria Limited demonstrates the power of collaboration in transforming shared ideas into sustainable energy solutions.
I am encouraged by the immense potential of this partnership and look forward to working closely with the Centre to drive innovation, build local capacity, and accelerate renewable energy development across Nigeria.

Every new week is another opportunity to shape the future we desire. It is important to recognize that Nigeria’s energy transition is not only about generating cleaner power; it is also about nurturing the knowledge, innovation, and skilled workforce that will sustain our nation’s growth for decades to come.
Next month, in line with our commitment to a sustainable energy future, we will commission the Barefoot Renewable Energy College, Kogi State (BARECKS), a landmark Federal Government project that affirms that the future of energy begins in the classroom. We appreciate the support and cooperation of the Kogi State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for providing an enabling environment for this transformative initiative. BARECKS is one of several strategic projects currently underway across the country under our watch.
As we advance the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, we must continue to invest in institutions that equip young Nigerians with the skills and knowledge to drive a sustainable energy future for our nation.

Yesterday, we brought the curtain down on the maiden edition of the Mustapha Abdullahi Energy Leadership Fellowship (MAELF), welcoming over 80 exceptional young Nigerians into a community of visionary leaders committed to shaping the future of energy, innovation, and national development.
In my remarks, I reminded our Fellows that the true value of this Fellowship lies not in the certificate they received, but in the responsibility it confers: to think boldly, lead courageously, pursue excellence relentlessly, and leave every community better than they found it.
One of the defining moments of the programme was the presentation of startup grants ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million to outstanding innovators whose ideas have the potential to create jobs, solve real problems, and contribute meaningfully to our nation’s development.
I am deeply grateful to Hon. Dr. Dayo Israel, APC National Youth Leader; His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu; Dr. Tochukwu Kingsley Udeh, SAN, Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology; Hon. Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser to the President on Energy; Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, GCON; His Excellency, Abhishek Singh, High Commissioner of India to Nigeria; Barr. Ismaeel Ahmed, DON, Executive Chairman/CEO, PI-CNG; Abba Abubakar Aliyu, MD/CEO, REA; Khalil Suleiman Halilu, EVC/CEO, NASENI; and Engr. Olalere (Lere) Odusote for their invaluable support and unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders.
May I specially appreciate His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose Renewed Hope Agenda continues to inspire a new generation of innovators and changemakers. I equally appreciate every partner, mentor, judge, and organiser whose dedication made this Fellowship a resounding success.
The Fellowship has ended. The assignment has just begun. May this first cohort be remembered not simply as pioneers, but as the generation that chose to build the future instead of waiting for it.

And whoever puts their trust in Allah, then He is sufficient for them. No matter the uncertainty you face, remember that Allah is enough. When you place your complete trust in Him, He will guide your steps, ease your affairs, provide from unexpected sources, and make a way where none seems possible. May Allah be sufficient for us in all our affairs and grant us goodness in this world and the Hereafter. Amin. Jumu’ah Mubarak🤲🏽
