@fookin_weeb@SBMalus I mean it's not like nintendo is going above and beyond in other areas of the pokemon games, the least they could do is put some effort into balancing their mons
@RulerOfPaper5@SBMalus Meta in single player games is irrelevant, since how each person plays doesn't really affect the rest (aside from cases where only certain things are actually viable for gameplay purposes).
Comp games shouldn't have a meta because it ruins the experience for non meta players.
@LovelyLuwuna@SBMalus@Bob35226922 At which point you might as well not even include 95% of the content in the game since most players will never interact with it.
@LovelyLuwuna@SBMalus@Bob35226922 "having a centralised meta is significantly better than not having a standard meta" how???
All that does is discourage players from actually trying everything the game has to offer, and makes the game far less enjoyable for people who don't exclusively play the meta.
@SBMalus@Bob35226922 Every UNBALANCED game designed around competitive gaming, is designed poorly.
It's not a very hard concept to understand when you fully address my statement instead of twisting my words and using mental gymnastics to make my argument sound worse than it is.
@Bob35226922@SBMalus Having something be an industry standard doesn't make it good game design lol. Especially when you're talking about a multi billion dollar franchise.
@CottonTales1@chara_betty And those monsters were based on fairy tales and mythical creatures, which happens to be what a large amount of pokemon were derived from.
Funnily enough, digimon also shares similar monsters to pokemon, as does dragon quest.
Yet somehow palworld HAS TO have copied pokemon.
@CottonTales1@chara_betty Just for video games, pokemon didn't have their first release until 1996 with pokemon red.
Shin megami tensei released one in 1992 centered around collecting toony monsters for use in turn based combat.
Pokemon didn't even create the concepts that fans keep claiming are theirs
@CottonTales1@chara_betty No, it's definitely a case of pokemon fans wanting their games to feel more important than they actually are. Once again, there are only so many unique designs before things start overlapping.
Never seen yall make this big of a deal over the countless actual ripoff games. Funny.
