Lovely to see Kilbroney Church of Ireland in Rostrevor lit up in green last night to mark the longest night of the year - a chance to remind people that we are here every night on the phone for anyone who needs it.

We had such a great day at the Samaritans All Ireland Conference, hosted by Belfast Samaritans. There were fantastic speakers and workshops, all reminding us of the importance of empathy and the power of listening.
Thank you so much to everyone involved.
Thank you to @Carrickcruppen for having us at their Addiction Awareness event, where the speakers talked about their path into recovery and the issues of peer pressure.
Remember, if you ever need to talk about anything you are going through, you can contact us for free on 116 123
A big thank you to the members of the Newry Ski Club for their kind donation after their recent trip to the Alps. For every fall they had, money was added to the pot and we were the very lucky recipients because it seems there were a lot of falls! ⛷️ 💚
Did you know that it takes over 75 volunteers a week, just to keep our branch open? That's why, this week, we are delighted to welcome a new batch of trainee volunteers into the branch. It's always amazing to see people who are keen to learn and to help people in need.
We had a wonderful night at The Graduate Restaurant in @srcchat yesterday. It’s always great for our volunteers to meet up outside of our branch. Any chance to acknowledge all the hard work they do is greatly appreciated!
Tomorrow, let’s not think of it as ‘Blue Monday’. Let’s change it to ‘Brew Monday’! - Use it as a chance to catch up with a friend or family member you haven’t seen in a while.
You may be surprised how helpful a simple cuppa and chat can be!
Thank you so much to Colleen and Conor from @DkIT_ie who helped to raise over €700 for our branch with a Christmas Quiz in The Vinegar Man pub in Dundalk. A huge effort that will help us continue to be there for people in need.
Congratulations both!
A huge thank you to Newry Community Choir for their wonderful singing and, thanks to the generosity of the shoppers of Newry, helping to raise £575 for our branch. What a great Christmas treat!
It might be the longest night of the year but #samaritanslongestnight reminds us that even in dark times, somebody is there is offer a supportive voice on the other end of the phone. If you ever need to talk, give us a call for free on 116 123.

Saturday marks the Longest Night of the year. Tomorrow afternoon, some of our volunteers are walking around Newry handing out information about what we do. If you see them, come say hello! We’ll all meet outside the Town Hall to see it lit up on green! #samaritanslongestnight
A huge thank you to our Volunteer Care Team, Mabel, Ellen and Jane, for organising a lovely Christmas get together for our volunteers in our branch. It was great to see so many of our new trainees joining us and meeting some of our longer serving volunteers. 🎄🎅🏼
