There is no meaningful difference between you and Pierre Trudeau. That is what I want you and every other civic nationalist to understand. Civic nationalism is downstream of Pierre Trudeau and the American liberal postwar consensus. Your aspirations for colourblind meritocracies composed of “rational, free thinking individuals” are wholly foreign American imports.

Your refusal to see Canadians as a distinct people, or even to accept a definition of nationhood that includes constituent ethnic groups, is itself foreign and liberal. Your position is only tenable because of decades of top down liberal social engineering.

There is literally nothing Canadian or nationalist about your worldview. Canadian nationalism is illiberal, High Tory, conservative, statist, mercantilist, protectionist, and monarchist.
