๐จ A lot of people are confused by this image, so hereโs whatโs actually happening:
If you own an iPhone 15 Pro, any iPhone 16 or even the base iPhone 17, youโre still getting Apple Intelligence features and the new Siri AI.
Apple now has two on device AI models:
- AFM Core is a 3B parameter model that powers Apple Intelligence across supported devices.
- AFM Core Advanced is a 20B parameter model designed for Appleโs most powerful hardware with 12GB+ RAM, offering significantly more AI capability while still running on device.
Based on what Apple has officially shared so far, the features specifically tied to this more powerful model are Expressive Siri Voices and higher-accuracy Dictation. Other Apple Intelligence features will continue to work on the standard model unless Apple announces otherwise.
So most of the new features announced at WWDC arenโt just exclusive to iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone Air. Those devices simply get access to a larger and more capable on device AI model for a handful of advanced features.
โBut but it requires 12GB RAM!โ
So? THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT 12 GB RAM IN IT THEN.
This is not an excuse.
They said the iPhone 16 is โbuilt for Apple Intelligenceโ, and now, neither 16 and not even the 17 get all the AI features.
Apple Intelligence features are available on iPhone 15 Pro and later, but the most powerful on-device model is limited to newer iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Developers are getting access to Siri AI today, but it is not going to be available in the EU initially.
I just realized that Tim Cookโs first event introduced us to Siri on the iPhone 4S in 2011.
Now, Tim Cookโs last event will introduce us to the next-generation Siri on iOS 27 in 2026.

@mainbhiengineer There are now major challenges using GitHub Copilot. While we got used to the agent mode for our code development, limiting usage to X number of AI credits has made us more frugal about how we use it going forward. ๐๐ป

If true, this is the worst and the most discriminatory move against Indians I have ever seen in my life! Indian investors who have been betting on India and had been holding their shares in the economy despite the struggling times we have been going through are being punished and foreign investors who pulled out money are being awarded. If you want to remove capital gains tax, remove for everyone! What is this slavery mindset with which our FM is working! Shameful! I would urge all Indian investors to pull out their money from Indian stocks if this is implemented!
The AI Journey ... ๐ค
Many large organizations are starting to put caps on AI usage: Claude, ChatGPT, all of it.
Not because AI isn't working. The opposite.
Its usage exploded, costs spiked, and finance teams suddenly noticed a new line item growing faster than anyone planned for.
So now the pendulum is swinging. Limits per employee. Approval workflows. Usage dashboards. "Justify your tokens."
In the next year, AI usage inside companies will be as governed as cloud spend is today. And this is the natural next step.
Every powerful technology goes through the same three phases.
Phase 1 - Ban it. "Don't use AI, data risk."
Phase 2 - Free for all. "Everyone uses AI, we're an AI-first company now."
Phase 3 โ Govern it. "Use it, but with focus, limits, and measurable outcomes."
We're entering Phase 3.
The free-for-all phase felt exciting. But it also created a lot of waste, people using a frontier model to do things a simple tool could do. Burning expensive tokens on low-value tasks.
In the free phase, just using AI made you stand out.
In the governed phase, that won't be enough. You'll need to show focused, high-value usage, the kind that justifies the cost and moves real outcomes.
The people who thrive won't be the ones using AI the most. They'll be the ones using it the best.
Worth thinking about. ๐
