The second-best thing to hit theaters in the spring of 1992. The first being yours truly.

[Scar-lett’s Movie Mayhem @ScarletCinema]

Rewatching Reservoir Dogs after 30 years is a *VERY* different experience. 😐 Much to ponder…🤔

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@SlavaMalamud @vmarkov Same reason why King Charles is Carl in Russian. There are tons of dumb rules, not always ill meaning

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@hergravce In fairness to Keith, unlike Masha, he came to the US before he was, like, five iirc. Hes a red blooded american for all intents and purposes

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@souljagoyteller Correct. It's very Cold War-y; for the elites, Ukraine is an issue where, if you toe the line, much (if not all) can be forgiven. So the Russians and chuds are right that they're manic about Ukraine and Russia, but hey, a) thats a good thing, b) whose fucking fault is that?

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast *popular amongst people who care about art*

now you're just pettifogging

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast I seriously doubt most people would even recognize a pollock and rather confuse it for a housepainting tarp

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast yeah and pollock's work posthumously got a ton of awards too. and let me let you in on a little secret (i know this because i've talked to people involved) - the mechanism by which both happened was identical lel

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@DarachOCearuil @aakashgupta The only place I've had a better Guinness (PLEASE dont kill me, I swear I'm not trolling) was London. Granted, I only had a Guinness in Ireland at DUB

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast Right, and who *pays attention* to art? 90% of people know American Gothic as "the pitchfork painting"

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast It's not shit bc it's political, but it is shit. And I'm not sure thats even REMOTELY true. Does it apply to the 1960s and 1970s? Yeah, I guess. But by the 1980s you already had people like Basquiat departing if not detaching from postmodernism

Also Rothko was *already* popular

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast No one above 50 and/or a blue collar job knew Pollock at any point in time

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast my original post was this

https://t.co/svTMH6WQnj

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@RWApodcast Yeah, no, shut up lol. Who's the Hopper of the USSR? The Rockwell? The Warhol? Wood? Wyeth?

Soviet visual art is widely panned virtually everywhere outside of the USSR

Literature and movies are a MUCH different story - it's far more equal there. But even with lit - all banned

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast oh, in terms of public "appreciation", 1920s Soviet art is widely beloved lol. Find me someone with a college degree who doesnt know what Black Square is

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast (just realized pollock's wife achieved recognition before the guy himself - funny!)

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast Gorky, Rothko, de Kooning, Krasner, etc were all popular by the early-late 50s, if not earlier

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast never mentioned rothko in my original list. kandinsky's great synthesis stuff in my view laid the foundation for the rest to come

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast if youre trying to say it was a beloved variety artificially thrust into the #1 slot, sure, i'll grant you that

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast i vehemently detest suprematism, cubism too lol. i think picasso's mature work is horrifically overrated

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast which ones i listed are postmodernist? lol

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@JaredTNelson I'd heard the hiring of "marble statues" was basically shut down 5-6 years about in law, investing, and consulting shops. Is that true?

[Sam Boedenmann @samboedenmannDC]

@Dada233591vkx8 @RWApodcast 1. Yeah, but that's also bullshit. There was already a ton of postmodernist art out there that was very highly regarded without the CIA. Kandinsky, etc. Hell, even Rothko did the Seagram Murals before any of that, attests to the desirableness

2. None of 'em are postmodernist lol
