Bezos point: Low income earners, by definition of having little income cannot pay much of the overall tax take, so they should pay zero. Big help to their quality of life with little affect on revenue.

@ryderkessler So they use less resources, and therefore should be cheaper. The spare disposable income will be used to consume other stuff that is probably not carbon neutral. I think there is an old study on people who moved into apartments in the Chicago area that bears this out.

Solar is good, but rational tradeoffs aren't made due to distortions by government involvement in both fossil fuels and solar, hydro etc

@WallStreetMav Cars, planning etc. LA has very nice parts but making urban areas pretty is not a priority. Most people spend most their time at home or at work so those places are the natural priority.

It does seem that being a rich country means we'll end up getting fuel
