Imagine a UK with no future Benjamin Disraeli, Moses Montefiore, Isaiah Berlin, H.L.A. Hart, Jonathan Sacks, Martin Gilbert, Bernard Lewis, Simon Schama, Lucian Freud, Rosalind Franklin, Howard Jacobson, Michael Marks, Oliver Sacks, Harold Abrahams, Vidal Sassoon, Daniel Radcliffe, Mick Jones, Brian Epstein, David Baddiel, Harold Pinter, Amy Winehouse, Sacha Baron Cohen, Stephen Fry, Rachel Weisz, or Helena Bonham Carter - to name but a few prominent figures from diverse fields & eras.
Unless there is a serious reckoning very soon, that day is coming.
4 unarmed HEROES tried stopping the Bondi Beach terrorists:
- Boris and Sofia Gurman, 69 and 61, wrestled a terrorist to the ground
- Reuven Morrison, 65, hurled objects at the terrorist, even a brick
- Ahmed al Ahmed, 43, temporarily disarmed the younger terrorist by sneaking up on him from behind
Everyone lost their lives trying to stop them except for Ahmed, who survived but was wounded after the terrorist, whose life he spared, found another weapon and continued firing into the crowd.
These people are HEROES for doing what they did.
Given todayâs horrific events in Sydney, we recognise wishing our Jewish fans a happy Hanukkah may seem hollow at this incredibly difficult moment.
The story of Hanukkah reminds us that even in darkness, we can find the light. We stand alongside our Jewish communities and pray for peace and unity across the world, while sending our deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones đ€đ
@JackBMontgomery@DennyTWright @OfficeofABC Priestly celibacy, transubstantiation, veneration of saints, the assumption, Marian devotion, sacraments, the Papacy, purgatory, etc. None of that is Biblical. Do you not see the hypocrisy?
@JackBMontgomery@DennyTWright @OfficeofABC "Isn't biblical"? I'm an atheist so no skin in the game here, but clearly most of Roman Catholic liturgy and tradition was made up by people in Rome hundreds of years after the Bible was written, and is almost all entirely non-Biblical
@Caplanben@wwfcofficial Were you there? We were winning all the second balls and pressuring them heavily. 11 shots to 0. That was not Wimbledon's game plan at all
@Caplanben@wwfcofficial That second half was the best half since Bloomfield mate. Far more intensity and attacking incision than anything I saw under Dodds ever
@mball91@DZI_WWFC Fully agree with this too. The amount of times we get a good opening but decide to pass the ball backwards rather than even attempt a slightly riskier forward pass is incredible. I cannot fathom why. It happened so many times towards the end of last season too
@R__J202@DZI_WWFC Fully agree with this. Something I've noticed in every game this season. We may put together a few nice passes, but it only gets us to about the halfway line usually. And we've risked giving the opposition an easy chance to do it
NEW: Is the internet changing our personalities for the worse?
Conscientiousness and extroversion are down, neuroticism up, with young adults leading the charge.
This is a really consequential shift, and thereâs a lot going on here, so letâs get into the weeds đ§”
