@KySportsRadio If Pope were truly running UK as a Top 10 program with a top notch GM we wouldn’t have been in the situation of needing a judge or a change of rules by the SEC to try to field a good roster. Look at teams like UCONN, Duke, Florida, they have had their roster set for a while.

@KySportsRadio I don’t know if Mitchell will end up being eligible or not but one thing I’m highly confident about is if Mitch were still the AD we wouldn’t even be able to recruit him. As soon as Sankey submitted to the judge he was against it that would have been the end of the discussion.

@KyleTuckerCBB I wonder if hiring a sharp GM like this is a better option than having a “more compressive GM approach” led by 3 administrators already in the program & an ex BYU videographer? 🙄 I wonder what the analytics shows for these two approaches over the past two off seasons. 🤔

@KySportsRadio I give Mark Pope credit for this. Maybe a little unconventional but it allows him not to have a time constraint & to consolidate questions. Will be interested if/how he answers why he doesn’t have a GM & recruiting struggles. I’d imagine those are the top 2 questions by fans.

@CoachPsteve @CanonCal I appreciate you answering. Many people that defend his performance won’t put a number what is acceptable to remain the coach, some think any result is acceptable. I’m not as positive as you going into next season but I respect that you are realistic there has to be some success.

@cutler1300 Not sure he wants more help from his staff. Seems Hart & Brooks did a decent job getting players on campus but per Jack Pilgram Pope wanted to take it from there. Result = 14 of top 20 HS prospects visited, zero signed. Also refuses to hire a GM. He thinks he can do it all.

@KyleTuckerCBB 💯 correct. The problem is Pope thinks he’s always the smartest guy in the room & does not want to relinquish any control. I’m not sure having a GM would help because I don’t think he would trust/believe in anyone besides himself.
