A nation cannot remain sovereign if citizenship is detached from allegiance, domicile, and lawful membership.

U.S. citizenship is not a souvenir for crossing the border.

It is membership in a Constitutional Republic.

He is arguing against turning citizenship into a geographic accident detached from allegiance, domicile, and self-government.

That debate is not going away.

The China angle is exactly why this cannot be treated like a law-school abstraction.

If birth on U.S. soil creates citizenship even when neither parent is a citizen or lawful permanent resident, every adversary understands the incentive.

Citizenship policy is national security policy.

The EO point is fair.

But if the Court constitutionalized near-automatic birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment, Congress cannot simply statute its way around that.

That is why the distinction matters:

Kavanaugh left Congress room.

The majority made the fight much harder.

The dangerous part is that the majority did not merely block one executive order.

It appears to constitutionalize the rule.

That means the next fight has to be honest:

statutory limits where possible,
constitutional amendment where necessary,
and no more pretending the issue is forbidden.
