Lok Kalyan Marg means “Road of Public Welfare.”

Why changed? The PM’s residence road should symbolise service to people, not a glamorous racetrack left behind by colonial landlords.

Rajpath literally means “Path of the King.” Kartavya Path means “Path of Duty.”

Why changed? The previous name carries a colonial vibe — kings, subjects, power distance.
The new name, governance is about duty to citizens, not royal prestige.
