Thanks to that South Florida Mental Wellness Summit for having us keynote an event for 500 attendees - as well as run a breakout session on the âtrack & actâ thatâs needed in the MH space: #SameHere SCALE: https://t.co/ul1ewNRV0t & STARR https://t.co/8ctz4I0G9V @TheoFleury14
If youâre on IG, come join our growing community there. Lots of shares, lots of support, a place to feel like youâre part of something bigger than yourself.

Read RJ Mitte's words just before he passed & apply them to the mental healthcare system.
Meds were never meant to be the whole plan. Theyâre not cures. They can be a boost for the real healing work.
Until the system that profits off of our pain - changes, we'll keep tragically losing people. @TheoFleury14
Some may think Stephen A. Smithâs apology to Lane Johnson (& all those struggling), was hollow & forced.
But hereâs the reality - on this topic, we havenât had apologies. Havenât had turnarounds. Havenât seen the record set straight.
Overall a net positive for normalization.
Thanks Lane Johnson for showing how to
âPrioritize the Pause.â Him retiring to focus on his mental health isnât the endâŠitâs a pause until the next thing he does at 36! - fatherhood, advocacy, maybe coaching, broadcasting, something new?
We are more than our sport or career.
@MikeGarafolo Takes a real human to say it out loud & help others in the process. Thereâs no honor in squeezing out the juice of one more season, given what it can do to ur overall health - mental which leads to physical, the rest of your life. Too many athletes weâve see not prioritize this.
Lane Johnson, an advocate for mental health over the course of his career, says in his statement he âdeeply wanted to gut it out for one more year.â That was part of the consideration when he stepped away from the team for a bit during camp. But says now, after missing Sundayâs game, âRight now, it is critical that I focus on my mental health.â
@emilymkaplan Your coverage in print, and now pairing it with your on-air relationship and interviews with players and coaches are all big parts of why the attention and opportunity has grown. Keep it up Emily.
Hockey is all the better with you in this spot.
Presley Gerber, Cindy Crawfordâs son was flat out ASKING for help, repeatedlyâŠpublicly.
And we still lost him.
Long line of examples from Naomi Judd to Presley - where public figures said - âI donât want this outcomeâ & we still lost them: Are we finally ready to say suicide/overdoses are not âchoices to leave family behindâ?
This is a system overload where someone succumbs, just like so many other health outcomes. Tragic - not something we should judge.
A well known MEDIA member, Jennifer Eckhart dies by suicide, & MEDIA outlets like - LA Times, NY Times, WaPo, CNN, MSN donât have a single article.
Itâs suicide prevention month, someone from THEIR industry dies by suicide, & itâs not mentioned.
Look no further - big reason why normalization doesnât happen.
@phillysal2k@PopCrave@TMZ Iâm happy they were helped.
The issue is - anecdotal stories of help donât illuminate the reality of the trends.
We havenât change the âgold standardââŠmed use had gone up - to where 25% of the US population is on them nowâŠand yet deaths of despair continue to rise.
@phillysal2k@PopCrave@TMZ https://t.co/eblDtL07S5 and 5in5inc,com. We do provide it. With many of the top Trauma informed MDs and PhDs on the planet.
But letâs just do what you do - be skeptical, talk down change, and keep the same awful system in place. That really works!
How many more public figures w means do we have to lose, or hear about suicide attempts from, before we get real as a society that the current âgold standardâ mental health model of: diagnosing someone, giving meds for that âlabel,â & then talk therapy - doesnât work? #DiagaNOsis
Presley Gerber, model and son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27, @TMZ reports.
He died at a rehab facility, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
One more post on big Mike Sweetney. In 2023 we brought him to Citi Field to throw out the 1st pitch on #SameHereCiti day. 20yrs after first doing it at Shea.
His dad was there, so proud, but Mike lost the pic & his dad passed soon after.
Check out the sign we got from his dad,
Thx to @joefav PR Director of the Knicks at the time.
RIP to a truly wonderful person, Mike Sweetney. He never forgot his Georgetown roots and lived his life the Hoya way. Praying for his family, friends and everyone whose life was touched by his kindness. He will be deeply missed.
Mike Sweetney had hands down THE greatest heart of any human Iâve ever met. He would give you the shirt off his back. And he often did. We are absolutely crushed to hear of his passing. May his memory be for a blessing.
