@SPGlobalPlatts Analytics' Samer Mosis told @FT@derek_brower: vertically integrated energy players across the LNG value chain (shipping, production, +) have advantage in a future where carbon intensity of production is key attribute of competitiveness: https://t.co/l1mJ591z3T
Happy to share a collaborative paper w/Erin Blanton of @ColumbiaUEnergy where we unpack carbon-neutral #LNG trade. Many challenges remain, including risk of greenwashing & challenges to scaling, but the opportunity to incentive #carbon-intensity reductions is huge @SPGlobalPlatts
NEW commentary | Erin M. Blanton & @Samermosis examine an existing & growing market trade behavior that has potential to assist countries dependent on natural gas in meeting their climate targets during this transitory period for the global energy system. https://t.co/4cI3Xf7Tur
"Russia's energy strategy away from Europe towards Asia is a two-pronged attack."
Great speaking to @Samermosis near-midnight in London(!) as part of our #ArcticAmbitions❄️coverage of the @ArcticCouncil meetings in Iceland, on @CNBCi
Pleasure speaking with @NaserElTibi of @AlArabiya_Eng about the current state of the global #LNG markets, #Qatar's marketing strategy, and the year to come in #natgas and #energy markets

@thierry_bros maybe I am missing something, but it clearly says here FID. Biggest surprise really is the price point they are doing this at, but that is a totally different discussion.
even in a stress case scenario (incremental demand due to weather/storage fill) Asia's pull on marginal Atlantic supply will ease in March, as is shown in this chart by bigtime killer analyst @CottellLuke
This should undercut shipping constraints, softening this market tightness
Great to provide some context to @FT on this record rally in Asian #LNG prices.
The real question is whether the ides of march will bring an end to tightness in LNG markets or the rally keep skyrocketing. Our research shows....

As #energy companies like @bp_plc commit to various forms of #netzero there is yet to be a Gulf major following suit. This begs the question, how are Gulf NOC's preparing for the #energytransition? I break down what is & isnt happening for @GulfIntlForum

It's no secret MbS is after control of both Aramco & SAMA. The removal of Falih ensured the former, but the latter has been a slower process (see tweet belo for context). It is hard not to see the change at SAMA as the latest step in this process.

Past #Saudi@MEPSaudi statements suggested KSA #SWF PIF would receive excess oil rents instead of @SAMA_GOV in what would have been major shift in Saudi power dynamic. Talk of debt issuance for PIF suggest this change has been tabled, smartly.... https://t.co/Clxhlapxtu via @FT
This is a big red flag. Historically, #SaudiArabia has had 2 'Islands of Efficiency,' Aramco & SAMA w/the latter guarding the piggy bank. With SAMA now reporting directly to the King, this stabilizing role is dangerously in question (Thread) #OOTT

Despite the that the PIF has a less than stellar investment track record, MbS is determined to make the PIF the region's largest SWF. It is hard to see how this is accomplished without access to the country's excess reserves.

@ira_joseph@AmyJaffeenergy Saudi absolutely has significant natural comparative advantage in renewables buildout (sun, land,$$) but as it stands this #hydrogen deal raises more questions than answers (shameless plug for my @AtlanticCouncil article below)
https://t.co/0gRFckueEU
Oh I like this idea. Given that 95% of Saudi is a desert, seems like green hydrogen would be their future calling given the sun and wind resource. Curious why they keep talking blue hydrogen first as if they didnt have a chronic shortage of marketable gas with which to work.
Note how often #Qatar Energy Minister AlKaabi mentions carbon & CCS in this & other statements on @Qatargas's #LNG expansions plans
LETS BE CLEAR: Qatar is preparing to market itself as the world's least carbon intensive LNG producer (thread)
@PlattsGas
https://t.co/zIUPNFbH8p
Big news. Cargoes delivered under #Qatar's recent deal will come w/statement of associated GHG emissions. This is massive in the evolution of #LNG priced w/ a #carbon premium.
Qatar is set to own this space. See thread below to see why. #naturalgas
