So City were investigated due to their emails being hacked (no other club has had this) and then it was leaked before the formal announcementโฆ. Ngl, all a bit fishy.
So many emotional content creating City fans are so negative. Crazy they are questioning now, not when it was happening. Happy to ride the wave then jump off when shit hits the fan then question everything
Something about this leak really doesn't sit right.
For years we've been told City's case is private, confidential and must be allowed to run its course. Then, before that course has actually finished, Ornstein shares the most explosive part of the outcome.
Cue the entirely predictable pile-on: relegation, titles stripped, expulsion. The media narrative is set, the public outcry follows, and the punishment is effectively being debated and demanded before we've even seen the judgment.
Perhaps that makes absolutely no difference to the people making the decisions. I hope it doesn't. But they're human beings. Is it really unreasonable to question whether that level of media and public pressure could consciously or subconsciously influence the people still tasked with determining the sanctions?
That's why the timing of the leak matters. It has created an external pressure around an unfinished process that simply wouldn't have existed had confidentiality been maintained.
If we're all (City included) are expected to have complete faith in the independence and integrity of this process, I think we're perfectly entitled to question that.
And if this ends up in another legal battle over whether the process was fair and impartial, I suspect this leak could become far more important than people currently realise.
@Tgarratt10 Seeing as none of us, especially fans of other clubs, know anything as to what we are specifically being charged for, and what is then a reasonable punishment for each, Iโm just waiting for the outcome. Hard define fair when we donโt have other examples to go off.
@Tgarratt10 You believing everything you see now Tom? TopSkillsSportsUk really what you are going off? ๐๐ already been proving incorrect on a different post.
@DominicMurphy97@barlowjacob I think Iโm getting at, we are taking the word of a journalist with nothing substantial to back it up. This created hysteria which has led to where we are. Until anything formal has been said, Iโm staying in my lane
@DominicMurphy97@barlowjacob We were guilty as soon as it initially announced a few years ago. Since the statement on Friday, itโs all gone quiet. Itโs difficult time at the moment, but AS IT STANDS, nothing has happened. Iโll panic once we know what the final outcome is
@DominicMurphy97@barlowjacob We are currently, as it stands, no different as to where we were 1 week ago. A journalist statement was made, now nothing. Everyone needs to chill just a bit
@joebutters@barlowjacob I understand. Iโm just trying to be a slightly positive voice of reason in the absolute sea of negativity. Unfortunately, I was commenting on the panel show last night when all it was, was negative energy, doom and gloom, misery. Coming from content people, it affects viewers.
@joebutters@barlowjacob Iโm talking about the speculation of punishments and what weโve been done for, in which every soul appears to have their own version of! Apologies, wasnโt clear on that in my last response
@barlowjacob@joebutters Of which they can, legally, only be allowed to say so much, hence, why people may think itโs a lack of transparency. Itโs a legal proceeding, not a classroom debate. Once it all comes out, then we make judgement, until then, people need to stop speculating or panicking!
@rugby_podcast Very tedious this. On top of the number 1 team in the world playing the style they do. Just not at all attractive for any new comers to enjoy. Shambolic all round.
